Timothy Persson, new CEO at The Hess Collection winery.
The Hess Collection, a Napa-based winery that is part of Hess Family Estates, said Monday that Timothy Persson is now chief executive officer, following the ?departure? of President Gary Bulger.
The company said Bulger had been president since 2009, and had been with The Hess Collection for nearly two decades, starting as a regional sales manager in 1995. It didn't say why Bulger was leaving, and officials couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
The transition appeared to be amicable, however. Bulger?s record with the company ?is truly remarkable, and one of long-standing dedication and loyalty,? Persson said in a July 23 statement.
Persson, a member of the Hess family, is also chairman of the board and a Hess Family Estates managing director.
Donald Hess, the firm?s founder and CEO, retired last year from day to day management, naming family members Persson and Christoph Ehrbar as Hess Family Estate managing directors, with oversight of the wineries in the family?s portfolio.
Those wines include Hess Collection wines from Mount Vedeer in the Napa Valley, Sequanna; Artezin; MacPhail Family Wines; Australia?s Peter Lehrmann wines; Colome and Amalaya from Argentina; and South Africa?s Glen Carlou.
Chris Rauber's beats include health care, insurance and the wine industry for the San Francisco Business Times.
